Ashwin Nayak received his B.Tech. in 1995 from
Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur,
and his Ph.D. in 1999 from
University of California, Berkeley.
His Ph.D. dissertation on quantum computation and communication
was supervised by
Umesh V. Vazirani , and he continues to research quantum algorithms and protocols.
When he can wrest himself away from his computer,
he dabbles in yoga. He hopes that its teaching of detachment will one
day free him of this device.
